Graduated from Melbourne University in 1994 and pursued a surgical career in plastic reconstructive surgery in Melbourne. Successfully completed the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship examination in May 2003.

After gaining his fellowship, he completed 3 years as a Microsurgery Research Fellow at the Bernard O’Brien Institute of Microsurgery at St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne. He is currently writing his PhD Thesis on Functional Adipose Tissue Engineering at the Department of Surgery, St Vincent’s Hospital at The University of Melbourne. He has received a number of competitive awards and scholarships including the Melville Hughes Scholarship from The University of Melbourne in 2006, The Surgeon Scientist Scholarship from The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005, a Faculty Medical Research Scholarship from The University of Melbourne in 2005-2007, and a St Vincent’s Health Research Scholarship in 2004. His ongoing research interests include Adipose Tissue Biology, Adult Stem Cells, Mechanobiology, and Cell Therapy and Adipose Tissue Engineering for Soft Tissue Reconstruction and Augmentation.

He has published widely in peer-reviewed scientific and surgical journals and has presented at a number of International Plastic Surgical Conferences, including The World Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery conference in Athens in 2007, and The International Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Society conference in Berlin in 2007. He is currently appointed as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Hospital, Western Health and Barwon Health. Special areas of interest include advanced skin cancer, microsurgery, hand surgery and soft tissue reconstruction and augmentation.
